Gowlabeg Bridge

Single-arch stone bridge, built c.1820, spanning Abhainn Ghabhla Beag [Gowlabeg River] and comprising irregular coursed granite rubble with cast-iron tie-plates, round arch with cut-stone voussoirs and gunnelled soffit with pipe addition. Parapet capped by rough rubble coping stones. Rubble stone flanking walls to each end.

This is a well built bridge reflecting the expansion of the road networks in the more remote districts of Ireland in the early years of the nineteenth century.
