Gortnavern Double Stone Ringfort

Internal diam. 44m. A subcircular area defined on its N side by a grassed-over wall/bank up to 1m high, in which a number of stones can be seen, and on the S by a change in ground level 1m high revetted by large stones. A stream runs alongside the N bank. From 2m to 10m inside the outer 'enclosure' is an oval area, 25m E-W and 15m N-S enclosed by a partly grassed-over collapsed wall of small stones. There is a possible gap in this to the SE. On the N inner side of the inner enclosure is what appears to be a blocked-up Man-made underground passage (DG045-023002-). It is difficult to determine whether this is a bivallate site or univallate with an internal structure. The site is located on wet rough pasture on a NW to SE slope.
