What is recorded here
This reservoir is the lower of two reservoirs serving the Ballyboden water treatment works, built c.1880. Turf covered stone dam, stone lined reservoir, spillway with double-arched coursed rubble stone bridge over, and stone valve building approached via steel lattice bridge.
An impressive collection of structures with a unified design quality, representing the age of great Victorian engineering schemes and still in use today. Designed by Richard Hassard in 1880.
