Giants Grave

Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape between drumlins with a small pot lough (diam. c. 100m) c. 150m to the E. It is depicted only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘Giants Grave’. Two orthostats support a lintel, which could be interpreted as the entrance to a court tomb (de Valera 1960, 131). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
