What is recorded here

Fragment of quay wall, built c. 1820. Located under modern hotel building on west bank of Garavogue River north of Hyde Bridge and the commercial centre of Sligo Town. Squared-and-snecked battered rock-faced limestone walling.
This fragment of early stone harbour wall represents a fascinating survival. The presence of this feature adds to the riverside setting and makes a valuable contribution to the built heritage of Sligo town relating especially to Sligo's history as an active port.
