Cast-iron railings, c. 1900, comprising of fluted piers with plain horizontal bars.
These cast-iron railings are significant contributors to the architectural heritage of the city, and are interesting reminders of the quality of materials which were once utilised in the construction of street furniture. Surviving original railings such as these are increasingly threatened by modern replacement.
