What is recorded here
Detached stepped gable-fronted garage, built 1953. Pitched corrugated-iron roof behind stepped rendered parapet. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with render sills and timber casement windows. Square-headed door opening with double-leaf sliding corrugated-iron doors. Petrol pumps to front of site on concrete plinths. Set back from roadside.
Modern in style, the stepped gable, concrete construction and lack of adornment are typical of mid-twentieth-century architecture. The survival of the two pumps add context to its setting and function. It is remarkably complete and well preserved example of an early rural garage.
