What is recorded here

Gallaun is a tall standing stone in Glanleam, County Kerry, trapped inside a much younger earthwork called Cromwell's Fort. The prehistoric upright predates the fort by millennia, forcing later builders either to honour its presence or to ignore it completely. A leaning slab now braces its base after Chatterton recorded in 1839 that the stone shook easily, proving human hands have repeatedly refused to let it fall.

Near end of boggy plateau on S side of Barraboy Mountain. Stone (H 2m; 1.5mx 0.7m) stands 3m N of radial stone cairn (CO090-00802-); long axis NE-SW.
