What is recorded here

Gallaun is a 3.43 metre upright stone standing inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, County Kerry. The stone predates the fort by millennia, yet it still anchors the later enclosure. A leaning slab and packing stones suggest people worked to keep it standing after it began to shake. What is clear is that the place layers time: an old stone, a later fort, and repeated human attention in one small corner of Kerry.
