What is recorded here

O'Donoghue (1986) noted 'At the west side is Parknakilla - Pairc na Cille (field of the church) in which is the site of an ancient church'. There are no visible remains of any church here as the area has been quarried extensively. A Man-made underground passage (CO082-019001-) was noted in the quarry face in 1999. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
A local church or high cross; wider significance not recorded.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
