What is recorded here

Gallaun is a tall standing stone in County Kerry, trapped inside a much younger fort called Cromwell's Fort. The stone predates the fort by millennia, forcing a choice between deliberate design or careless building. A leaning slab now braces its base, perhaps added after Chatterton shook it loose in 1839. The ancient upright survived human ambition, military history and time itself.
