Gallaun stands 3.43 metres tall inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, proving that human ambition often stacks rather than replaces. A loose stone in 1839 became a braced monument, yet the Cork record claims removal around 1965. Both claims may be true: one Gallaun vanished, another endures. The fortranimator did not erase the old marker; it absorbed the marker and gave the old marker a new argument for existing.
