What is recorded here

Gallaun is a tall standing stone in Glanleam, County Kerry, trapped inside a much younger fort called Cromwell's Fort. The stone predates the fort by millennia, forcing humans to build around an old anchor rather than erase it. A loose stone recorded by Chatterton in 1839 may have been propped with a leaning slab, while packing stones still hold its base.

In flat marshland. Low rectangular stone (H 0.93m; 1.3m x 0.48m) with packing stones exposed at base. Long axis N-S.
