What is recorded here

Gallaun is a 3.43-metre stone standing inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, yet it predates that fort by millennia. A leaning slab now braces its base, perhaps added after Chatterton found it shaking in 1839. The fort either claimed the ancient stone or merely covered it, forcing both histories to share one narrow patch of Kerry earth.
