No one knows which hands raised Gallaun or why it stood watch in boggy pasture below Faher mountain. The stone has vanished without a trace, erasing the memory of the valley and the people who once looked upon it. What remains is an empty coordinate on an old map, a ghost marker pointing to nothing but wet grass and forgotten time.

No trace survives of the ‘Gallaun’ marked at this localion on the first edition of the OS map and on the OS Fair Plan. It was located in boggy pasture, on the W side of the Black water valley, below the steep E slopes of Faher mountain. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
