Gallan is a rectangular standing stone in West Cork, aligned northwest to southeast and rising 1.55 metres above pasture that overlooks the Owenashingaun River. It may have marked a boundary, a meeting place or a memory kept visible across open grass. People may have passed it without knowing its age, while it watched the river change and the land continue around it.
