What is recorded here

Gallan stands in pasture beside the Ilen River, its subrectangular body tilted slightly as if listening to water noise rather than defending itself. It has watched the valley since before roads or fences, steady while empires and seasons changed around it. People may have gathered there to mark time, honour the dead or simply enjoy the company of something older than memory. The stone does not need explanation, but it gives one back when you stop demanding answers.
