What is recorded here

Gallán was a single standing stone caught in an east-west field fence on a south-facing Cork slope, visible on the 1940 map but absent from earlier ones. It may have marked a boundary, a memory or a place where people gathered before written records. The fence and stone have since disappeared, leaving only the name and the shape of the land where it stood.
