Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, the Gallan stone may have functioned as a boundary marker, ritual monument, or astronomical alignment feature. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with protective or territorial significance.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
