Fulacht fia in Tonn Láin

Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

One chamber holds a living map. The other waits under pine shadow. Together they mark the boundary where human memory ends and animal dreaming begins. Laigin blood flowed through both chambers before forgetting their own name.
In coniferous plantation. Marked on UCC Archaeology Dept map as 'fulacht fiadh'. Burnt material visible but extent of spread not determined. Second fulacht fiadh (CO058-052001-) 50m to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
