Hot stones, cooling water, steam rising on a Clare slope: a fulacht fia is a place where people made heat useful before leaving a building behind. In Parknabinnia the oven has flattened into a low oval mound, yet the function remains plain because the form still matches the act. Later walls and cairns crowded around it, proving the spot kept attracting life instead of fading from memory.

On a SW-facing slope along a NE-SW mound wall that forms part of an extensive field system (CL017-180---). A low, oval, grass-covered mound (5m E-W; 3.4m N-S; H c. 0.4m) with some large friable stones (c. 0.2m by 0.2m) on the surface. A later enclosure immediately to the NW likely overlies the fulacht fia and abuts the adjacent cairn (CL016-057001-) to the NE. Another cairn (CL016-058----) is located c. 100m to the NNE.
