What is recorded here

Discovered in 2001 during archaeological test-trenching in advance of the construction of the N22 Ballincollig Bypass. Excavation revealed a subcircular spread of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil (c. 6.5m x c. 5.5m; max. D 0.25m) and two adjacent circular pits (diams. 0.6m; D 0.22m and 0.25m, respectively). (Murphy 2003h, 47). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
