Two possible fulacht fia lie close together in Dromiskin, County Louth, now reduced to a thin spread of burnt clay and orange fire-cracked sandstone. They may have been cooking pits, bathing places or ritual heating sites, but the plough has worn away the shape that would have made the answer clear. One animal bone survived in the burnt layer, a small proof that heat and life once met there. The land has forgotten the function while keeping the warmth behind it.

Discovered during archaeological test trenching (Excavation Licence No. 99E0549). A spread of burnt clay with fragments of orange fire-cracked sandstone was exposed. This may represent the ploughed out remains of a fulacht fia. An animal bone was recovered from the burnt layer.
