What is recorded here

Hot stones, water, heat and food or bathing may have filled this place before roads and fields changed it. It still lies at the hill base near a tributary of the River Bride, with two more fulachtaí fia not far to the north and east. The cluster suggests a repeated local practice rather than a single forgotten event.

A 'disturbed' fulacht fia was discovered during archaeological monitoring of an area to be used as a permanent topsoil tip adjacent to the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. It was located at the base of a hill, c. 40m N of a tributary of the River Bride and it remains in situ. Two other fulachtaí fia (CO044-103----, CO044-105----) lie c. 70m to the NE and c. 170m to the NNE, respectively.
