Fulacht fia in Baile Uí Uaithnín is a kidney-shaped mound of fire-shattered stone, twelve metres long and nearly two metres high, where water was heated by dropping burning rocks into a basin. The western edge still holds upright stones that once braced the pit, while collapse and grass have softened the rest. People may have cooked, cleaned or gathered there under open sky, listening for the hiss of steam before the water cleared.

Fulacht fia described by Cuppage (1986, 24, no. 25 (i)) as; 'An irregular, but vaguely kidney-shaped, grass-grown mound of burnt and fire-shattered stones measuring 12.4m NW-SE x 1.75m in maximum height. The depression at its WSW side appears to have been revetted with stones, some of which stand upright and some of which have now collapsed'.
