What is recorded here
Kyle burial ground/An Chill: This calluragh burial ground (KE035-070002-) was noted as being circular in outline on the OS maps but was described in the OSNB (Ballyduff, 17) as 50 feet (15m) long, 15 feet (4.5m) wide and 4 feet (1.2m) high. The site is reputed to have been the location of the church (KE035-070001-) from which the townland derived its name (OSL). It was situated on a NNW facing slope overlooking Brandon Bay, and the field in which it lay was cleared and deep-ploughed in 1982.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage (compiler) 'Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey.' Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne (1986), no. 850. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
