Fort and Cave occupies a slight rise in a Donegal field, its twenty to thirty metres of earth now hidden beneath cultivation. The underground passage still exists beneath the soil, waiting for someone brave enough to enter the dark. What the fort guarded, whether people or memory, has vanished into the valley mist.

There is no surface indication (other than a preservation sign) of the 'Fort' and Man-made underground passage (DG068-022002-) marked on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map. The Man-made underground passage was inspected in recent years [1972], however. The 'Fort' was situated on a slight rise in a cultivated field sloping S and E to the Finn Valley. The size of the rise probably indicates the dimensions of the 'Fort' to have been c. 20m-30m. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
