Fish ponds are depicted on Ledwich's map of c.1790, these are shown as lying immediately W of Moinaincha Island. This area is now planted with conifers with no visible trace of the fish ponds. These are possibly of eighteenth-century date but may be earlier so are included in the RMP. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002).
