Church in Monaincha

Situated in the NW quadrant of an island in a lake formerly known as Lough Cré with a nearby abbey (TN018-001001) to the N. Only the wall-footings of the E wall (L 2.4m) and S wall (L 3.3m) and the SE angle are visible and the site is primarily defined by a mound of grass-covered stone. The mound survives to height of 1.35m. This may be the church depicted on Ledwich's map of c. 1790, though on his map it is depicted in the S quadrant of the island and is aligned N-S (Ledwich 1804).
