Field boundary in Derrygreenia

In rough hill pasture, on the N-facing slope of Knocknaveacal. A linear stretch (L c. 75m) of a relict field wall (T c. 0.65m; H 0.8m) extends downslope in a general NE direction. Towards the NE end another wall branches off to the SE for c. 12m, turns to the NE for c. 45m and then swings to the NW. From here the wall extends (L c. 50m) in a NE direction, along the line of the original stretch. This latter wall is visible intermittently and terminates immediately SW of a hut site (KE108-053----). Many of the lower course stones in the wall protrude above the deep blanket bog. In general the wall is collapsed, with rubble from the upper courses scattered along the perimeter. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
