Detached two-storey vernacular house, built c.1820, having three-bay first floor and four-bay ground floor, with gabled windbreak to front (east) elevation, and outbuildings to yard to side and rear. Pitched slate roof with red brick chimneystacks, timber bargeboards and exposed rafter ends. Pitched slate roof to porch, with carved timber bargeboards. Roughcast rendered walls, with painted quoins. Square-headed window openings, with replacement uPVC windows, and masonry sills. Square-headed door opening with replacement uPVC door. Two-bay single-storey outbuilding to north of yard to front of house, with five-bay single-storey outbuilding attached by single-bay flat-roofed annex to west end of north elevation of this, and detached single-bay single-storey outbuilding to south-east corner of yard, all having pitched corrugated-iron roofs, whitewashed rubble stone walls, and square-headed openings with timber fittings. Rubble stone boundary wall to front, having recent metal gates and piers. Wrought-iron farm gate to south of detached outbuilding, with single round-plan whitewashed rubble stone pier.

This farmyard has many features of the vernacular tradition, including farm buildings sited to the front of the house, and the use of readily available materials such as rubble stone, whitewash and corrugated-iron. The house, while substantial, has an asymmetrical elevation and small openings. The large round pier with gates hung to either side is a typical feature of the Monaghan countryside. These modest incidental features are often overlooked and therefore vulnerable to loss, making their retention here notable. The buildings and site features combine to make a pleasing small group.
