Fairy forts are not proof of fairy rings. They are ordinary human places misnamed because people stopped remembering the hands that built them. In Tievecloghoge, a small stone circle sits on a boggy ridge, its wall broken and scattered, yet still drawing attention because it resists easy explanation. The real loss is not mystery but forgetting. When communities stop recording their own landmarks, even clear human work becomes phantom.

Overall Diam. 20.7m. This site has been considerably interfered with. It consists of an enclosure formed by collapsed stone. There appears to be the complete outline of an inner structure 6.5m in diameter which is surrounded by a larger circle of collapsed stone except on the N and NW sides. The spill of the outer circle touches the inner enclosure at several points. The inner circle is level but with a lot of loose stones. A depression in the outer wall to the E may have been an entrance. What appears to be the remains of a trigonometrical station, is present at the SW of the outer wall. It is situated on the S slope of an E-W ridge in rough boggy terrain. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
