Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Castlerea Mountain

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No stone wall or broken gateway marks the hilltop today, only shadowed conifers and the memory of a fort buried beneath soil and time. The mountains keep what men forget, holding the shape of the place inside themselves while the world above loses it.
On a hill within a plantation of coniferous trees. According to local tradition, there was a 'stone fort' on the summit of the hill. No visible surface trace was found. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
