Fairy fort in An Cúíl Iarthach, County Cork: a 26m stone ring on a sun-warmed knoll, its wall built partly from the rock outcrop itself. A lane still skirts it, sheep graze inside, and the northern half holds the flat shadow of a possible hut. People may have lived there before becoming legend; the fairies inherited what was forgotten.

On natural knoll, in rough grazing, on S-facing slope. Circular area (diam. 26m) enclosed by stone wall (H 1.4m) SSW->NE; lane skirts site NE->S; natural scarp S->SW. Rock outcrop incorporated into wall to NE and SSW. Interior slopes gently down to SE; possible hut site in N half.
