Fairy fort in Gormagh, County Offaly: an oval rath twenty metres long and ten wide, sloping east-west, with a faint ditch and half-metre kerb bank on the north-east. It sits in a meadow with no remarkable features, yet the shape suggests a lived place where people stood, turned, and left the land marked. The fairness in its name may be later invention, but the odds are not: a small strongholds, half forgotten, still holding its line beneath the grass.

Unlocated ringfort within townland described by Offaly Historical Archaeological Society in 1975 as 'an oval shaped platform rath with main aixs E-W c. 20m long; N-S axis c. 10m ; sloping E-W. There is traces of a ditch on N.E. side with kerb stone bank about 0.5m high. The site is a meadow and has no remarkable features' (OHAS 16/02/1975) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
