The precise location of a ringfort within this townland has not been identified. The Ordnance Survey Letters of 1838-40 recorded that 'there is an ancient rath on Ballymonen T.L. another on Tomcoyle T.L. (WI019-032----) another on Cearthrebawn, another on Courtfoyle, another on Cullenmore' (O'Flanagan 1928, 95).
