Mervue houses now straddle a subcircular ringfort fifty metres across, its twin earthen banks and central ditch still visible beneath modern gardens. The western edge fades into oblivion, but a man-made passage cuts through the interior, inviting curiosity about the people who dug it. They likely lived beside the flat pasture, using the fort for shelter or ceremony before the estate consumed the horizon. The architecture remains stubbornly human, even when memory departs.

Formerly in flat pastureland, now incorporated into a housing estate at Mervue in NE suburbs of Galway city. Subcircular rath (NW-SE 51.5m) in fair condition, defined by two earthen banks and an intervening fosse, best preserved from SE to NW. No visible trace survives of the fosse and outer bank from NW to NE. A field bank radiates from the ringfort at WNW. There is a Man-made underground passage in the interior.
