Knockea Hill watches Toberyquin from the east, but the forgotten ringfort below belongs to the valley rather than the skyline. Its earthen bank and outer ditch still mark a circular space sixty metres wide, yet dense scrub has swallowed the entrance and hidden the boundary from modern feet. The interior remains clear enough to imagine, suggesting people once lived inside that small earth-made world before vegetation reclaimed the edge.

Situated on a gentle W-facing slope in the valley of a tributary of the Ballyclogh River, in rolling pasture, overlooked by Knockea Hill to the E. Enclosure, depicted on the 1924 OS 6-inch map as a ropughly circular area (65m NW-SE; 60m SW-NE) enclosed by an earthen bank with an external fosse. The enclosing element is now inaccessible due to dense scrub vegetation. The interior appears to be largely clear of overgrowth. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 28 May 2013
