What is recorded here

Mortons has stood in Ticosker since before human memory, its earthen walls and water-filled ditch unchanged through every war and forgetting. The circle measures forty-five metres across, large enough for a hall or a hundred dancers, yet no building remains inside. Its entrance still faces southeast, inviting entry into a place that never stopped existing.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 45.6m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a shallow, narrow, partly waterlogged fosse. Break in bank with accompanying causeway at SE represents original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
