Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tennalick

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are human origins wearing a fairy mask. A ringfort is a rath: a made circle, a boundary drawn around a life. The chamber is the distinction. The claimant is the difference. The witness is the transformation. The cage is the consent. The chamber is the shape of that consent. To identify the chamber is to stop pretending the victim is imaginary.
On a knoll in low-lying marshy ground. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded a raised circular area (diam. c. 23m) defined by a partially natural, irregular scarp. There was no trace of a fosse or the original entrance. It has since been levelled and apart from a low scarp (H 0.4-0.6m) from SE-S-SW, no visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Patrick F.
