What is recorded here
Fairy forts are not places to waste fire or waste breath. They are patient. They watch the boundary between the seen world and the hidden one. They remember when people lived beside mystery instead of pretending mystery does not exist. They are not hostile. They are honest. That is why they feel dangerous to modern minds.
On S-facing slope of a low hill in grassland. Very poorly preserved subcircular rath (NE-SW 40m) defined by a scarp and external fosse. Possible entrance at N.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
