Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Shrough is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Shrough, County Tipperary, Ireland. It occupies a circular area 17 metres north-south and 18 metres east-west on a north-facing slope in improved pasture. A 4.1-metre-wide bank reaches 1.5 metres externally at its best-preserved east-southeast to south arc, while a 5.5-metre-wide external ditch survives from south-southeast to west-southwest. The bank drops to a 3.2-metre-wide scarp toward the south-southwest and west, and a possible 2.5-metre entrance opens at the east.
In improved pasture, on a N-facing slope. Circular area (dims 17m N-S; 18m E-W) defined by bank (Wth 4.1m; int. H 0.75m; ext. H 1.5m), best preserved ESE-S, and an external fosse (overall Wth 5.5m; basal Wth 2.6m; D 0.75m) SSE-WSW. Bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) is lower WNW-E & SW and is reduced to scarp (Wth 3.2m; H 0.65m) S-SW and W. Possible entrance (Wth 2.5m) at E, with gap (Wth 1.5m) at NNW probably due to erosion by livestock and a gap (Wth 1m) is at WSW. Fosse has been truncated on the exterior SSE-SSW by a drain and trackway (long-axis ENE-WSW). Interior is generally level.
