Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Shanrath

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Shanrath, County Limerick: a 27m earthen ring now flattened to a faint pale circle in pasture, its ditch reduced to a shallow smile the field boundary cuts through. People called it fairy fort because the shape appeared and vanished like breath on grass, yet the ring is human-made and the field has walked over it. What is left is enough to see: a circle, a shade of a ditch, and the certainty that living things once drew that line and stopped at it.
In level pasture. Monument, depicted as circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, discernable now as very slightly raised circular area (diam. 27m) enclosed by faint trace of fosse. Field boundary truncates fosse at N.
