Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Seeharan

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Marianne and Ciaran followed the survey marker into Seeharan, where a low earthen bank still traces a circle thirty-five metres across. They walked the shallow ridge until it disappeared into a field boundary, then sat beside the grass and listened for the shape of the fort inside the living land.
Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 35m) enclosed by a partly denuded, low earthen bank which has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary from N-E-SSE. Another more recent boundary has been built against its outer face from NNW-N. Original entrance not recognisable. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
