Fairy fort in Sandylane, County Limerick: a 30-metre ring of scarped earth, wide flat fosse and hidden banks, half-swallowed by scrub in wet pasture. The southern gap admits rain, breath and mischief; the north-west bank suggests more than one hand or more than one age. People may have lived, excluded or worshipped there before forgetting the name. What remains is a circle strong enough to keep being seen, and quiet enough to stop being explained.

Situated in low-lying, poorly-drained pasture. The monument, heavily obscured by dense scrub vegetation, consists of a roughly circular area (diam. c. 30m) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 3.3m; H 0.9m) with an external fosse (Wth 7m) and an earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; Wth 2.6m; ext. H 0.1m). There are traces of a further external bank at NW (int. H 0.6m; Wth 3.7m ext. H 0.1m). There is a gap in the enclosing element at S (Wth 1m).
