A two-metre earthen bank still circles Roughgrove East, enclosing a shaded chamber where stone-lined niches cut into the inner wall like abandoned doorways. The fort sits on a south-facing slope above a hollow path, suggesting people once navigated that lower route toward its threshold. Trees now fill the interior, softening the angular geometry of human labour into a living room for roots and shadow.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Circular area (35.3m N-S; 36.4m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.1m); silted-up fosse NNE->E. Pathway inwidened fosse skirting bank SW->NNE lies 2.2m below level of surrounding field to N. Two stone-lined semi-circles cut into inner bank face to S and NNW.
