What is recorded here

Thirty metres across in level Limerick pasture, the forgotten fort still keeps its shape beneath a thick skin of green. People called it a fairy fort because the land seemed to swallow human memory, but the shallow bank and narrow ditch suggest ordinary hands built a home or held stock before the grass reclaimed it. The fairies may have arrived later, filling the vacancy with wonder.

In level pasture. Circular area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by an earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.15m) with an external fosse (D 0.7m; Wth 3.6m). Most of enclosing element and all of interior are covered by dense overgrowth. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
