Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Rathmore, County Longford: a 50-metre earthen ring on a rise above low pasture, with a possible house site inside and no entrance left to find.
On a rise in low-lying pasture. A report in 1976 (SMR file) indicates that this raised circular area (diam. c. 50m) was defined by a low bank of earth and stone, an intervening fosse and a short segment of an outer bank at SW. There was a possible house site (LF027-015002-) within the interior at SW. The rath is now defined by a scarp (H 1-1.3m), which is partially levelled at E. The original entrance is not recognisable. No visible surface trace survives of the fosse or outer bank. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 24 October 2012
