Rathcoursey once held two loises, but both vanished before memory faded. One yielded three flint arrowheads, proving the soil still keeps what arrogance forgets. The fairies did not leave; they redeaved the land and took the shapes with them.

According to Power (1940, 102) 'there were formerly two loises (see CO076-101----) in Rathcoursey but both had been destroyed long since. In one of these…three flint arrowheads were found'. Exact locations not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
