Fairy fort in Rathcool, County Cork: a circular earthen ringfort about forty metres across, drawn on the 1842 map and later cut through by a roadway. Half remains a shallow rise beside the road; the other half has vanished under traffic and time. People may have lived there, fenced stock, or simply forgotten the name of the hand that shaped it.

In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled roadway running NE-SW transects enclosure. On NW side of road is raised area (C c. 22m NE-SW), scarp most clearly defined to W; no visible surface trace of site to SE of roadway. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 357) as one of two levelled single-ramparted forts (CO030-147---) on Mr McCarthy's land; (diam. '39 yards and 34 yards').
